A DCP from a video file
Link a video to a composition with its colour space, P3-D65 included, white-point adaptation, crop and frame-rate handling, and bring its sound along. Nothing is converted until export, where each reel gets its own JPEG 2000 picture at the data rate you choose, up to 250 Mb/s.
Play what you are working on
Real-time JPEG 2000 playback of the actual package, encrypted or not, with the subtitles composited live. Nobody else does this in the authoring application.
Reels on a timeline
Cut, merge and move reels on a timeline instead of editing a list. Composition markers are a lane you drag, snapped to frames.
Metadata you can actually edit
The full ST 429-7 and 429-16 set, editable on packages you did not create and re-emitted without touching the essence. ISDCF naming is wired to the metadata, so the name and the CPL agree by construction.
Version Files & Original Versions
Ship a tiny subtitle-only VF that references the source DCP's picture and sound, or a full self-contained OV. InterOp and SMPTE, including RDD 52 (Bv2.1) with 16-channel MCA audio.
Encryption & KDMs
SMPTE 429-6 essence encryption, signed CPLs and PKLs, and one KDM per screen from your own certificate chain.
Conformance, always on.
A validation strip along the bottom of the window, recomputed as you work. Not a report you run after the package is written. Subtitle spot durations, gaps and line lengths are checked the moment an asset is imported. ClairMeta remains available as a deeper backend.
Picture quality, measured
A real feature film, a 4K ProRes 4444 XQ master in P3-D65, exported as a 2K Scope DCP and measured against the master, frame by frame.
The perceptual score Netflix developed, out of 100, at 110 and 250 Mb/s. Above 95 is generally considered indistinguishable from the reference.
Structural similarity to the frame AlphaDCP makes just before JPEG 2000: what compression takes away, and nothing else.
The colour conversion alone, turned back into P3-D65 and compared with the master. Every colour bar of the leader, read from the DCP itself, lands within 0.04. Under 1 is invisible.

The two apps together.
AlphaDCP masters the package. AlphaSUB edits the subtitles inside it. Neither needs the other to be useful, and together they close a loop no single application does.
AlphaDCP builds DCPs.
AlphaSUB reads them.
Right-click a subtitle track in AlphaDCP and it opens in AlphaSUB with the picture attached, so you spot against the real image. Every save lands back here as you work. Then export a Version File: megabytes, not another 200 GB copy.
AlphaSUB brings frame-accurate spotting, on-device AI, eighteen import and export formats, and DCP subtitle assets in ST 428-7 and InterOp. It reads and plays DCPs; it does not build them.

Add a language to a finished DCP
Open the distribution DCP, edit its subtitle track in AlphaSUB against the picture, and ship a subtitle-only VF.
Rebuild a package from track files
Assemble reels from loose picture and sound MXFs, lay in subtitle tracks, rewrap into a fresh OV, encrypt, then issue one KDM per screen.

Play the package end-to-end to check sync and reel boundaries, watch the conformance strip as you work, and attach the report to the delivery.
