AlphaDCP opens, versions, quality-checks and plays Digital Cinema Packages — with a real player and a timeline instead of a form to fill in. It is a separate application from AlphaSUB, sold on its own, and the two work together.

What AlphaDCP does

BetaAlphaDCP 1.0 versions, validates and plays. It does not yet create a package from a video file — origination comes later.

Play what you are working on

Real-time JPEG 2000 playback of the actual package, encrypted or not, with the subtitles composited live. Import a DCP and its first composition opens straight away — picture and sound. Nobody else does this in the authoring application.

Reels on a timeline

Cut, merge and move reels on a timeline instead of editing a list. Composition markers are a timeline lane you drag, snapped to frames — not a modal dialog.

Conformance, always on

A validation strip along the bottom of the window, recomputed as you work — not a report you run after the package is written. Subtitle spot durations, gaps and line lengths are checked the moment an asset is imported. ClairMeta remains available as a deeper backend.

Metadata you can actually edit

The full ST 429-7 and 429-16 set — content kind, ratings, languages, luminance, active area — editable on packages you did not create, and re-emitted without touching the essence. ISDCF naming is wired to the metadata, so the name and the CPL agree by construction.

Version Files & Original Versions

Ship a tiny subtitle-only VF that references the source DCP's picture and sound, or a full self-contained OV. InterOp (CineCanvas) and SMPTE, including SMPTE RDD 52 (Bv2.1) with 16-channel MCA audio.

Encryption & KDMs

SMPTE 429-6 essence encryption, signed CPLs and PKLs, and one KDM per screen from your own certificate chain.

AlphaSUB

The two apps together

AlphaDCP masters the package. AlphaSUB edits the subtitles inside it. Neither needs the other to be useful, and together they close a loop no single application does.

Add a language to a finished DCP

Open the distribution DCP in AlphaDCP, right-click its subtitle track to edit it in AlphaSUB — with the picture attached, so you spot against the real image — and the corrections come back live. Then export a Version File: megabytes, not another 200 GB copy.

Rebuild a package from track files

Assemble reels from loose picture and sound MXFs, lay in subtitle tracks, rewrap into a fresh OV, encrypt — then issue one KDM per screen.

Check it before it ships

Play the package end-to-end to check sync and reel boundaries, watch the conformance strip as you work, and attach the report to the delivery.

AlphaSUB — the subtitling half

Frame-accurate spotting, on-device AI, eighteen import and export formats, and DCP subtitle assets in ST 428-7 and InterOp. It reads and plays DCPs; it does not build them.
